We are now inviting application for admission to the intake of Postgraduate Diploma in Infectious Diseases (PDipID) Programme, organized by Department of Microbiology and the Carol Yu Centre for Infection, Faculty of Medicine, HKU.

The PDipID programme aims to provide understanding of, and practical experience in, infectious diseases management for physicians, surgeons, clinical microbiologists, other clinicians and health care workers who are actively involved in the daily management of patients suffering from infectious diseases. Special emphasis is put on infections that are major health problems locally or globally.

The PDipID programme covers the following components over a period of two year:

  • Six two-days Infectious Disease Courses
  • Clinical Attachment (3 Friday Infectious Diseases Rounds, Two Bedside Infectious Diseases Consultations and One Clinical Microbiology Laboratory Round & project presentation)
  • A clinical and/or laboratory surveillance project
  • One Literature Reviews of important topics in Infectious Diseases

Remarks

 

Both live and pre-recorded lectures will be available online after 7 April 2024** for 12 weeks, until 2:00pm at 30 June 2024**, you may watch all recorded lectures online during this period.

The 2nd day Course (7 April 2024**) will be held in face-to-face format and the venue is Lecture Theatre 1, G/F, William Mong Block, Faculty of Medicine Building, 21 Sassoon Road, Hong Kong, Registration starts from 9:00 am, participants are strongly advised to come early to register and to collect your course materials before the first lecture starts at 9:30 am.

quiz, consisting of 20 MCQs, will be held at the end of the second day’s lectures only (NO online quiz will be provided).

CME Accreditation:

Participants are required to attend the Zoom Meeting on 6 April 2024** (1st Day Lecture), attend the Face-to-Face Course and complete the quiz on 7 April 2024** (2nd Day Lecture and Quiz).

Call for applications: rolling basis, April, July, or November each year.

Mode of attendance: part-time (2 years).

Entrance Requirements

All medical or nursing graduates, healthcare/science workers, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, medical doctors, and healthcare workers of the HKU-Shenzhen Hospital.

Method of Instruction

Six two-day weekend courses.

There will be a quiz after completion of each course.

Performance of these quizzes will constitute the basis for assessment.

Medium of instruction: English.
